Today we have an unusual lesson; we have guests at our lesson. Let’s greet them! Now take your seats!

As you know today’s lesson is the last one in series lessons about EATING HABITS.

In other words it is the lesson of summing up lexical and grammar structures.

A successful lesson is all about setting realistic aims that meet the students' needs and achieving them!

-        So, our aims are:

-        To practise in listening and expressing opinions on the subject;

-        To revise and enrich students’ vocabulary on the topic;

-        To generalize and broaden students’ knowledge about topic “Healthy eating”;

-        To review and practise Conditionals;

-        To involve students into communicative activities by means of pair and group work;

-        To improve written skills based on different prompts

- Topic “Food” is always under discussion among both teenagers and adults. There is a food cult in different countries. People invent proverbs and idioms with food-words. The next task is: guess the meaning of the idioms and translate the sentences with them:

1. a bad egg – My cousin Jack is a bad egg, and I don’t want to have anything common with him. - (a bad influence/ someone who brings trouble)

2. a couch potato -Most evenings they sit, like a pair of couch potatoes in front of television. – (an idle person)

3. a hard nut to crack – The problem is a hard nut to crack. - (a difficult person to understand/ a difficult problem to solve)

4. a piece of cake – That job was a piece of cake. It was the easiest thing that I've ever done.- (easy)

5. a smart cookie – Jed is a smart cookie. I’m sure he’ll do the right thing.- (a clever person)

6. big cheese – Ever since his promotion, he has started to feel that he is the big cheese in the company. - (an important person)

-        There are many points of view on the topic. There are many nutritionists who help people be fit and healthy. There are many ideas how to eat right. We’ve heard about a vegetarian diet, a pescatarian diet, about meat-eaters, vegans so and so forth. But why do people stick to this or that diet? Let’s have a discussion on this issue. I’d like you to divide into 2 groups. The 1st group will tell us about all advantages of being a meat-eater, the 2nd group will show us pros of a vegetarian diet and we need some nutritionists or experts who will conclude all above. Mind your grammar. Don't forget the rules of using Conditional sentences.

-         Marvellous! Now we understand if we want to be healthy we should have a balanced diet. So, let’s summarize what food is more useful for our organism and how often we should eat it. I'd like you to fill in the form with foods and time consuming words to make a balanced diet.
